India and Romania have taken a significant step toward advancing their economic and strategic partnership in the renewable energy sector, following a high-level seminar and hybrid business-to-business forum organized by the Embassy of India in Bucharest on March 30.

The event brought together senior policymakers, industry leaders, financial experts, and innovative companies from both countries, creating a forward-looking platform to explore investment opportunities, foster technology partnerships, and strengthen policy collaboration in clean energy.

In his opening address, Romania’s State Secretary at the Ministry of Energy, Cristian
Bușoi, reaffirmed the country’s firm commitment to energy transition, diversification of energy sources, and enhanced regional energy security. He emphasized the vital role of international cooperation—particularly with India—in accelerating the deployment of renewable technologies and achieving long-term sustainability goals.

India’s Ambassador to Romania and the Republic of Moldova, Dr. Manoj Kumar Mohapatra, highlighted the strong upward trajectory of bilateral relations and India’s emergence as a global leader in renewable energy. He underscored India’s rapid advancements in solar, wind, and green hydrogen sectors, driven by ambitious national targets and progressive policy frameworks. The Ambassador encouraged Romanian stakeholders to deepen engagement with Indian companies
through joint ventures, technology transfer, and collaborative project development.

A high-level panel discussion featuring leading experts offered valuable insights into the geopolitical, financial, and technological dynamics shaping the global energy landscape. Discussions focused on energy connectivity in the Black Sea region, Romania’s strategic position as a gateway to Central and Eastern Europe, challenges in scaling renewable infrastructure, and access to European funding mechanisms.

The business-to-business segment, supported by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), enabled direct and substantive engagement between Indian and Romanian enterprises. Indian firms showcased a wide array of capabilities in renewable energy and sustainability,
including solar and wind power development, advanced photovoltaic technologies, energy storage solutions, recycling innovations, and biofuels.
